Fuji-san,
as the locals refer to it, was also visible from a nearby lake.
The mountain was truly majestic, although we declined to take a
day to hike it, partly because we were on a tight schedule, and partly
because after the Great Wall in China, we were uninterested in being
embarrassed again by the fairly sturdy elderly Japanese folks who seemed
to be summiting without a hint of perspiration.
