On the north side of the
square is Tiananmen Gate which leads to the Forbidden City. In the
middle is Mao's picture, looking down over Tiananmen Square.
Every morning and evening
there is a large ceremony for the raising and lowering of the flag in
front of Tiananmen Gate.
